What is categorised as normal wear and tear?
Trampoline Springs - The main item to be affected by wear on a trampoline are the springs. These are under constant load and, when the trampoline is in use, are a moving part so inevitably they will wear out. The main reason that trampoline springs stretch (set) to the point of non-recovery is when the user lands very close to the edge. In this instance the weight of the trampolinist is borne by only 3 or 4 springs instead of the whole set - so yes they will stretch - it is not a fault in the trampoline spring. We compare them to tyres on a car - if you drive steadily, not too fast around the corners, don't brake too hard, don't accelerate too fast, don't wheel spin, then the tyres will last a long time. If however, you do all those things and drive 20k miles a year they will not last very long. The trampoline springs will last years if the trampolinist always bounces in the centre of the trampoline bed and if the trampoline is used by only one bouncer at a time.
Trampoline Beds - The trampoline bed (sometimes called a trampoline mat) is made fro a very hard wearing polymesh fabric and will last for years in normal trampolining conditions and when used as specified in the trampoline's user manual. Trampoline beds are susceptable to damage caused by sharp objects and heat. Common reasons for damage to the trampoline bed include:- keys left in a back pocket, stones in the tread of shoes or boots, cigarette burns, holes caused by sparks from BBQs or bonfires. If a hole in a trampoline bed is larger than a 1p coin then the bed should be replaced for safety reasons. The stitching around the hem of the trampoline bed will start to wear and eventually break. This is normal wear but usually only occurs after about 5 years.
Trampoline Frame Pads - The trampoline frame pads vary vastly from one model to another and certainly from one trampoline manufacturer from another. On a quality trampoline the frame pads are one of the most expensive conponents of the entire trampoline - these will not only give excellent protection to the user but will also last longer. Cheaper trampolines use cheaper materials and one of the most common ways to cut costs is to make the trampoline frame pads thinner, using standard packaging foam. As you can imagine, the latter type of frame pads will not last very long. Super Tramp do not use inferior materials in any of our trampolines.
Trampoline Frames - As a non moving part there's not much to go wrong with a trampoline frame. All Super Tramp trampoline frames are guaranteed against failure due to rust. In small areas some isolated surface oxidisation can appear. This will show as a slight browning discolouration or as a white powdering. This is perfectly normal and ont covered under the warranty. On very rare occasions a trampoline frame can be bent due to hard impact. This is more common on rectangular trampolines as they are more powerfull. A trampolinist can gain a lot of height on a rectangular trampoline and therefore if the user lands heavilly on the frame pads it can bend the top rail beneath.
Super Tramp have been maufacturing and distributing trampolines for over 25 years. We know how to make good quality, robust trampolines and more importantly we can recognise the pitfalls of poor design and cost-cutting that other trampoline manufacturers can fall into. We have taken that knowledge and applied it to other products in our range including sports hall trampolines, competition trampolines, rebounders (or mini trampoliones), commercial trampoline systems, garden play equipment (which includes our Action Stations aluminium climbing frames and Houtland wooden play equipment), Swings & Slides, Balance boards (including our very own Wobbler), table tennis tables (both indoor table tennis tables and outdoor table tennis tables) and of course a vast range of sleds, sledges and toboggans. As such we are proud to say that manufacturing faults and subsequent warranty claims for Super Tramp products are very rare.
