5 stars Ratty & Toad Written by Chris
We stowed our new two seater Pathfinder kayak with all the other holiday luggage in the car. 3 days later I'm standing lakeside in Central France reading the instructions. 25 minutes later we're paddling across the lake. That was a trial before we hit the River Cele next day. This time from boot to river it took us just 15 minutes. A very easy carry for two getting it from shady bank to the water's edge. The twin keels occasionally bumped along in the shallows. We probably didn't need that extra stability on this summer river. How wonderful to be able to access the magical world of Ratty and Toad so easily. All too soon we had covered the 5 miles to our pick up point. A wonderfully versatile product.

5 stars Sea Kayaking in safety and peace of mind. Written by Gerald Morris R.N. Rtd

My wife and I are in our mid- 70s and are very experienced in kayaking both at sea and river white water at Grade 3 and a bit more! We hired the PATHFINDER double kayak near to Juneau for a sea trip down the coast of Alaska in the Chatham Straits to Prince of Wales Island. The weather was B/C 3-4. and the fish were running right along side us and the whales were feeding and moving about 50 yards away although they seemed much nearer in reality because they are so huge. The PATHFINDER did not annoy them and it was very stable in the current taking us down through the Strait . We had a lot of gear with us in water tight containers, food and water ,a SatNav and a coast guard transceiver like a brick which beeped every 45mins for talk back report. we were taking the wind starboard stern quarter and we kept the PATHFINDER steady on the course in the 5 knot current .. The journey was 20 English statute miles we set off at 0900hrs and arrived at the Prince of Wales Island around 1400hrs . The kayak is very stable and in the light seas and going with the current and winds of 3 to 4 it was fine but would need a light skirt around the crew and stuck to the sides to keep out the sea , we did have to bale as the waves slapped the stern starboard quarter which one would expect , two scupe bailers should be provided which are tied inside the kayak. We found it well up to the job and we did not have to assemble or desemble it.

Is this canoe easy to set-up and use

The inflatable kayaks are very easy to set-up and they handle very well. I own a pathfinder 2 man Kayak myself and it really does take only 15 mins to inflate and prepare for launch. once on the water it feels very stable and the fins give controlled forward motion - unlike other inflatables that sway from side to side when paddling.

I live near the sea and a river. The river flows probably too fast for me. Can I use this along the coast?

I bit difficult to answer. It depends on your own abilities and the weather conditions. As you know the weather can change very rapidly at sea and some coastal waters can have strong currents, rip tides and tidal races at certain tidal stages. A considered answer as someone that owns this kayak, and bearing in mind the eyes of the "Health & Safety Police", would be yes, in calm weather conditions and on a beach that has life guard cover.

From a performance point of view, the Pathfinder inflatable kayaks are very stable and handle very well even in the hands of a beginner.

i know its a two man kayak, but dose it have to be two people or can one person even use it

Yes, the 2 man Inflatable Kayak can be easily handled by one person. I own one of these myself and quite often use it on my own when my wife abandons me in favour of sunbathing.

Hi yeah I bought a pathfinder 2 man from you a couple of months ago. How important is it to blow it up to the recommended psi. Because it never came with a pressure gauge. Will I.damage it if I use it anyway.

Thank you for your message. I would suggest firstly that you read the instructions provided. It is very hard to inflate the kayak too much, unless using a very high power pump. We can supply the kayak pressure guage for £16.95 should you want to make sure you are always doing it right! Hope this helps.
